Want to book local suburban train ticket online? I am living in Chennai for the past two years. I used to travel regularly in Chennai local trains. Being working in IT Company I don’t wish to stand in queue on railway station counters to get my tickets. Even sometimes I used to think when the technology has grown up this much better, why the India is still undeveloped as like US. To make some improvement in local trains, Two years back IRCTC the Indian railways has introduced smart cards to local train passengers.
How to Local Train Ticket Online – UTS Mobile App Guide
Now IRCTC has recently announced a new app called UTS Mobile app(i.e) Unreserved Mobile Ticketing services which are used to book your unreserved train tickets online (i.e.) you’re local and suburban train tickets can be booked from your fingers on your Smartphone like android, windows etc… Yeah now you can easily book your local train tickets with this UTS mobile app. The base goal of the Indian railways is to initiative for paperless ticketing. So they have hosted an official android & windows app for local suburban trains called Unreserved Ticketing system (UTS). UTS Mobile App Features:
- Quick Booking – Book local train Ticket for your favorite Frequent travel routes
- Normal Booking – Book local train Ticket for any local train routes inside city
- Cancel Ticket – Cancel the local rail ticket
- Booking History – Show the Booked history of the local train tickets
- Profile – Manage the train passenger Profile
Note: The local train ticket can be booked from UTS through Railway wallet payment option. You can top-up or recharge the railway wallet online & also in railway counters
Steps to book Local Trains Tickets Online:
Step #1: Download the UTS mobile App for your Android or Windows mobile Phone
Download Local Train Ticket App (UTS)
Step #2: Now Tap on sign-up on the UTS mobile app. Enter all the details like mobile Number, Name City, ID card type, Id card number. Tap on Generate OTP.
Step #3: You will receive one time password (OTP) to your mobile phone. Enter the OTP and Click on Confirm OTP.
Step #4: Enter few other details like selecting your default local train type & Payment type to finish the registration process in local train
Default local train Types: Ordinary, Express or Supper fast
Default Local train Payment type: Railway Wallet
Class Types: Second class, First Class
Step #5: Also Select default ticket type (i.e.) journey, Return, select how many adults and child usually travel with train with you.
Step #6: After that it will ask for your frequent travel route. You can also fill if need or you can skip it. You can also add these local train routes in future. I personally travel in suburban train from Tambaram to Guindy because my office is near Tambaram station and my home is at Guindy. So I have selected the local train route from Guindy to Tambaram.
Step #7: Click done. The password will be sent to your mobile phone
Step #8: UTS app, the user will get registered and the railway wallet is created for the user. Initially the railway wallet will have zero balance. As we said earlier you need to recharge e-wallet in railway counters or in online to book your local train tickets.

Step #9: Log into the UTS suburban mobile app .Now enters the mobile number and the received registration password to your mobile Phone.
Step #10: Go to “Normal booking”. Select the route, then how many are travelling with you. Specify it under alerts & child, enter the ticket type, and select class train type & payment type. Now click on get fare. If you have enough amounts it will go for payment. If not, then it will show a warning message saying “Wallet have insufficient amount. Please recharge it”. So top and proceed to book your local train tickets
Step #11: After click ok. Ticket will be booked automatically and it will be on the booking history. You can just show the softcopy to the local suburban train TTE.
Note: As of now the UTs mobile app is introduced in two cities Chennai & Mumbai

For Local suburban train ticket in Chennai : It is Valid for 2 hrs (The journey should be commenced from the railway station in 2 hrs) for onward journey. If you take return ticket also then the return ticket is valid for 12 hrs that is until midnight 🙂

Through unreserved ticket mobile app you can book local suburban train ticket online.
UTS is the worst app i have seen in my life. the app does not recharge the Rwallet, then what is the use of giving such a crap app.
Please call to IRCTC Customer Care and complaint the problem that you can’t railway wallet and you can’t book local suburban train ticket online.
The UTS Mobile app is not working in Patna & Bihar.
It’s not allowed to book local suburban train ticket when standing at railway station,
And it’s not possible to book ticket from different train location to another, during train travelling
Is the unreserved Train Ticket app available to iOS for booking Local Sub Urban Train Ticket.
No you can’t book book local suburban train ticket online on iPhone. since we don’t have UTS app for iOS devices.
As of Now the Unreserved Suburban ticket app is launched for only Mumbai & Chennai. It will be extended soon to other regions soon. So that you can book local suburban train ticket in online.
